Cabinets-Cedar wood and Forever Flex™
Beauty, strength and accessibility are built in to every Arctic Spa cabinet. We construct each cabinet using Canadian Clear Red Western Cedar. Corners are round with tongue and groove cedar dadoed into top and bottom 2 x 4 rails. The sturdiness of our cabinets is incomparable. No sagging, shifting or misalignment will occur.
All cabinets come with inset access doors on all sides of the spa, allowing easy service access and upgrades to any part of the spa. To finish the cabinet, a special protective wood treatment is applied to prevent moisture and UV damage.
Forever Flex™ cabinets are a stylish, carefree alternative to our cedar range. The entire cabinet is constructed from composite fibreglass. The exterior of the tub has specialised Eon panelling, creating an impervious and maintainance free spa. The panelling comes in a choice of colours and can be removed for access. Should you wish to change colours or renew the panels, these can be changed independantly of the spa. Their sleek design gives a modern look to any location.
Heatlock System
Arctic Spas Perimeter Heatlock Insulation System is designed to minimize heat loss and maximize energy efficiency. When the spa shell is placed in to the cabinet, high density insulating urethane foam is applied to the floor, cabinet walls, doors and the spa rim underside. This creates a sealed dead air space similar to that found in most houses in the northern parts of the United States and Canada.
Unlike most spas, Arctic Spas’ heater and pumps are housed inside the insulated area to maximize energy efficiency, shield against mechanical noise and protect equipment from freezing. Incidental or waste heat from the motors and heater is trapped by the insulation and naturally transfers through the spa shell to contribute to heating the water, significantly reducing overall heating costs.
The captured heat also acts as protection from sub-zero temperatures and protects plumbing and equipment from freeze- up. Even without power, at temperatures of minus 10°C, your spa water will stay above freezing for many days.
The sophisticated engineering of our Heatlock System provides an ideal operating environment for our pump motors. The water vessel acts as a heat sink, pulling heat away from the motor and other equipment. This greatly increases motor life and virtually eliminates the overheating problems experienced by other spa brands.
Access
Our Heatlock System coupled with all-round access doors, allows for quick access to all components, making servicing or upgrading your spa easy.
Understanding Pumps
When you begin researching your spa purchase, you may be led to believe that pump motors with higher horsepower means better jet performance. The fact is that motor horsepower is a measure of the electrical energy the motor requires for the pump to do its work of moving water through the plumbing lines to the jets.
To put it in more familiar terms 1 Hp = 746 Watts. Common sense tells you that a motor too small for the job will overheat and wear out quickly. A motor that is too big for the job is just a power hog. The motor should operate at its best power and efficiency when fully loaded, with some reserve (called the “ service factor”) to handle potential upgrades.
Even the most efficient motor runs warm under load, because some energy – as much as 40% - is always going to be lost as heat due to friction. This means that your pump is actually a heater!
In the end, jet performance is influenced more by such factors as the pump capacity (in gpm or m3/h), the plumbing size and configuration, the quality of jets and the individual jet controls, than by the power consumption of the motor. The best test is a wet test: feel the output of the jets and make sure they fit your massage expectations.
Arctic Spas’ Heatlock system is designed to recover this “bonus” heat and use it to help heat your spa. By utilizing pumps that are designed to run in this hot environment (read the motor label. It has the ambient operating temperature plainly stated, 40°C to 50°C / 120°F to 125°F) we can guarantee that they will run, day after day, for years of trouble – free service.
Arctic Ozone – Optional Upgrade
Ozone (03) is perhaps nature’s most powerful purifier. It is widely used to purify drinking water because it is pH neutral, controls metals and destroys organic contaminants quickly with no residual chemicals remaining in the water. But despite ozone’s (03) great potency, nearly all systems on spas utilise designs that fail to address the critical components needed for successful water purification.
These components are:
1.Concentration of Ozone: You must produce enough ozone at high concentration to purify and you must do so year after year without significant change in ozone output.
2.Surface Area: Large particles of ozone must be made smaller in order to increase the likelihood of reacting in solution.
3.Contact Time: The Ozone must come in contact with the contaminants and have enough time to react.
The Arctic Ozone (Corona Discharge) system is far ahead of most on the market. Unlike many Ozonators that suffer production problems because of burnout, the Arctic CD ozonator has an inexpensive cartridge that can be easily changed every couple of years to maintain maximum ozone output. Our balance Barometer both protects the ozonator and helps to concentrate the ozone before it is introduced through the Lippert injector. The water then flows through a reaction chamber being purified before returning to the spa.
Peak Ozone System
The Most Advanced Water Purification System Available!
The peak Ozone System picks up where our Arctic Ozone system left off and takes it to the next level!
We begin with a Cold Cathode Corona Discharge Ozone Generator that is certified to produce 0.5 g/hr of ozone at high concentration flow rate of ozone mixed into solution as much as possible. We force it through a patented Mazzei Injector, this pushes the ozone into a vacuum where the molecules are shattered into fragments smaller than water particles.
Approximately 80 percent of the ozone will be mixed into solution as a result of this process. Next, the ozone is kept in solution for a minimum contact time of 18 seconds to allow it to oxidize organic contaminants from the impure spa water. This is done, by forcing the water through our Static Mixing Chamber. This special chamber utilizes the latest in mixing technology within the Tri-Pac Reaction Zone. The goal here is to increase contact time by slowing down the water flow, further mixing the ozone and facilitating a reaction. A small percentage of ozone gas will remain out of solution and this we need to isolate and neutralize. The Peak’s Off-Gas Chamber accomplishes this by allowing undissolved ozone to rise naturally to the top of the chamber, where it is pulled through the Off-Gas Destruct Filter. This catalytic filter converts the ozone back to pure oxygen.
The science behind the Peak Ozone System may seem complex, but the results are amazing and the maintenance for you, the spa owner, is minimal. For Peak performance in water maintenance, choose the Peak Ozone System, available only with Arctic Spas (fitted as standard on all Legend SE spas).
Arctic Filtration
Arctic Spas use a simple and effective filtration system called a telescopic floating weir. The weir adjusts with the water level to effectively skim the surface where most of the oil, skin and contaminants accumulate. One standard size filter is used, making cleaning quick, simple, and helps to keep your spa water crystal clear and sparkling.
Tru-Guard Heater
Heaters fail more often than any other spa component due to the fact that most spa heaters use a heating element submerged into the water, directly exposing it to the potential hazard of chemical imbalance or poor quality water. This is a problem generally not covered under other manufacturers warranty.
Arctic Spas 'Tru-Guard' heater uses the latest in heating technology to maximize efficiency and reliability and comes with a five-year replacement warranty (ten year with the Legend SE). The 'Tru-Guard' heater is sealed from water exposure with the same protective barrier used to coat commercial acid tanks. This patented coating prevents the build up of minerals and shields against element corrosion.
Reflex Torsion Hose
Arctic Spas are the first spas in the industry to use Reflex Torsion Hose in every spa. This highly specialized pipe is designed to fit externally over rigid PVC, which allows greater gluing surface, high water flow and eliminates fitting leaks due to hose movement. Water in the spa hoses can be heavy and this pipe actually swells to absorb stress from the fittings. Reflex hose is clear with a colour-coded strand of PVC running through it for easy troubleshooting.
